His father was a Human merchant, who had taken his wife and 3 year-old daughter to Morasguard as part of his line of work, and had Eric a year later. As a child Eric saw the various defense squadrons that left to defend mines and crops and other areas, and they caught his attention. In particular, Eric was amazed at how the unarmed dwarves (stonefists) and kobolds (fangfists) could take down opponents wearing armor and wielding sharp swords or spears without any difficulty. When he came of age, Eric decided to become a warrior like those monks, and set out to discover himself and his ability. Eric's father Terrel was not happy with his decision in the slightest. "You'll go out there and get killed and have nothing to show for it. If you became a merchant with me, you could have a family and be safe." That's what Terrel said before Eric left. Eric was unconcerned with his father's disapproval, as he was driven to succeed. Eric's mother Gina agreed with his choice, but worried much about his survival. "Be careful and pick your battles wisely. Don't go running up to some giant and try to punch him out." Eric appreciated his mother's words. Eric's sister Ella was excited. "So if some jerk decides to put the moves on me, you come beat him up, okay?" Ella seemed to think it appropriate that Eric disappoint their father since she had already done so by marrying a dwarf. Eric is known as a changefist, because of his large arsenal of alternate weaponry and his status as a human. He practices several different styles of combat, not just unarmed, and leaves options open for any situation.
